Antique Airshow

On a quiet Saturday, we went down to the antique roadshow with the Baldwins.  We took a hayride over to the Pierson air museum and got to walk around and see all the old airplanes.  Hyrum loved it!  The kids got little planes they could put together and fly.  We saw planes coming and going all morning.  It was a fun family outing.

Next time we'll venture into the museum!

Fort Vancouver

So I have seen Fort Vancouver many times, but it was fun to take the kids on a tour this summer and see everything over there.  The kids loved observing the bakery, kitchen and blacksmith exhibits.  I love to see the garden out front and the archeology section.

Sunriver OR

We had our family reunion this year at Sunriver, OR.  It was so awesome!  The house was great with a big backyard, hot tub, horse shoes, a hammock and huge deck for us to enjoy.  The kids spent hours on their bikes everyday.  We went to the high desert museum where the kids could see animals and how the land was settled.  They pumped water from a well and scrubbed clothes on a washboard and hung them out to dry.  It was so cute.

We also saw lots of wildlife including deer and river otters. We hiked through the lava cave with headlamps.  The kids were cold and LaurieAnn was scared but it was definitely something to remember.  We spent lots of time around the river on walks and we did some bridge jumping here.  My kids were so brave!  Gabby did it twice even before Doug had jumped!

Beetle

So my camera is broken at the moment, but last night one of these invaded our campfire on the patio.  I have never seen one before but they are big and can fly.  It is called a lined june beetle.  We caught it to show the kids when they woke up and discovered what it was thanks to google and wikipedia.  The claw things on the front flare out when it flies like giant eyelashes.

Tribute

My grandfather, Richard Avery Dyer, Sr. passed away on July 4th.  There was a wonderful funeral and tribute to him on Saturday. 

This is my grandma's sister, Gloria.  I about cried when I saw her because I could see Grandma in her.  There is a sense of relief that Grandma and Grandpa are finally back together, but I am sad because it is the end of an era.
